The PSL club confirmed in statement on Monday that Siyabulela Gwambi has been tasked with leading the side against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday.

CHIPPA UNITED STATEMENT ON COACHING CHANGE

“Chippa United Football Club would like to announce that Kurt Lentjies has been redeployed to head up our DSTV Diski Challenge Team.

“Siyabulela Gwambi has been appointed interim coach for the remainder of the season. Gwambi has been a loyal servant of the club having acquired his CAF License A coaching credentials.

“Club Chairman, Mr. Siviwe Mpengesi has called upon all Chilli Boys faithful to rally behind the Gqeberha born native and his charges as they look for positive results.”

This is fourth change this season by the Eastern Cape side. In the five matches that the 38-year-old has been in charge since his return, Lentjies has won one, lost two and drawn two.

The club is third from the bottom, two points above Maritzburg United who are at the bottom.

WHAT KURT LENTJIES SAID ABOUT HIS JOB AFTER THE PIRATES LOSS

“About my job? Not at all. How can I be worried about my job?” Lentjies said after the 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates.

“I am more worried about the club as a whole. I am more worried about the players. Me I have been there, done that and obviously, I don’t want to use that other word.

“But like I said after this game we will know our fate but we still have five more games to play. So when it comes to my job, not at all,” he explained.

Chippa are in 14th place on the log standings after 25 matches with 26 points, two above the relegation zone.
