Why Brandon Truter expect fireworks against SuperSport United
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has explained why he expects fireworks when they take on Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United.
The two sides lock horns on Saturday 20 May in the last match of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season at Peter Mokaba Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled at 3pm.
In the reverse fixture, played in October 2022, the Tshwane side walked away with the maximum points winning 3-1.
Heading into the encounter, both sides are eyeing nothing other than three points.
Seven-placed Babina Noko wants to cement their place in the top eight. Five other teams Stellenbosch FC, Golden Arrows, Swallows FC, TS Galaxy and Royal AM are breathing on their neck aiming to secure a spot in the top half as well.
On the other hand, third-placed SuperSport are targeting to play in the CAF Champions League next season, but face stiff competition from Soweto giants Orlando Pirates who occupy second position.
WHY SEKHUKHUNE UNITED – SUPERSPORT UNITED CLASH WILL BE DIFFICULT
“A very important game for us this weekend, very difficult game as well,” Truter told the club’s media department.
“It’s a team that wants to get to [CAF] Champions League football, that makes it a cup final for them.
“It’s a good test for us, we also fighting for the top eight. So it will be an interesting difficult game in terms of qualities, formations, playing styles and considering the first round result.”
BRANDON TRUTER GIVES SQUAD UPDATE
Truter confirmed that he won’t have a full squad due to injury setbacks. The notible absentee will be skipper Linda Mntambo amongst others who have been out of action since February 2023.
“Brakkies” however promised to field a strong team that will be able to grind the intended result on the day.
“The guys are ready, we have one or two injury concerns, that might not be ready for this week.
“But we’ll put up a very capable team to securing three points at home, that will be our aim this weekend,” he added.
