Former PSL star pleads with Billiat and Musona
Following the lifting of the FIFA suspension on Zimbabawe, former PSL star Alois Bunjira has made a plea to Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona.
Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona retired from international football in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
At the time of retirement, Khama Billiat had made 43 appearances and scored 17 goals for the Warriors.
The former Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns ace represented Zimbabwe at the 2017 and 2019 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
He remained a vital cog for Zimbabwe just like his friend Knowledge Musona who captained the Warriors to become one of the all time best players.
Fondly known as the Smiling Assassin, he scored 28 goals in 45 appearances for Zimbabwe.
That all but made him one of the best goalscorers in the history of the Zimbabwe national team.
At the moment Khama Billiat is yet to renew his Kaizer Chiefs contract while Knowledge Musona settling at Al Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
WHAT FORMER PSL STAR ALOIS BUNJIRA SAID
After the lifting of the FIFA suspension, Zimbabwe is now beset with restructuring almost everything. This includes the appointment of new national team coaches.
And the former Bidvest Wits star, Bunjira has called out on Khama Billiat and Musona to come out of retirement and help Zimbabwe.
The Warriors are widely expected to be a new-look outfit, and will undoubtedly need a number of experienced players to guide them.
“Now that international football is back, we have a Normalisation Committee to steer football forward.
“After dark days of the past and Zimbabwe being placed in a fair World Cup group. I think it is a perfect platform for Musona and Billiat to come out of their forced retirement.
“And carry the torch with the Warriors for one last push. They must come while we sort out our development structures to groom their future replacements.
“We all know why Musona and Billiat retired from the Warriors. All that is sorted now. The culprits are gone.
“I hope Musona and Khama reconsider their decisions. And come back to the Warriors for this mission,” Bunjira posted on Facebook.
Zimbabwe will mark its return between 13 and 21 November when the World Cup qualifiers start.
They are in Group C along with Bafana Bafana, Lesotho, Nigeria, Benin and Rwanda. It will be intresting to see how they will fare after the lifting of the FIFA suspension.
