The one problem Kaitano Tembo aims to fix at Richards Bay

Zimbabwean gaffer Kaitano Tembo has revealed the one problem that he is beset with fixing at ambitious side Richards Bay FC.

Kaitano Tembo took over Richards Bay early in July, replacing Vasili Manousakis, who was sacked along with his assistant coaches Pitso Dladla and Ronnie Gabriel.

The Zimbabwean gaffer, Kaitano Tembo, was returning to top-level coaching in South Africa since parting ways with Sekhukhune United.

He was fired by Sekhukhune United in November last year after a string of poor results.

At Sekhukhune United, he presided over 12 league matches in the first round of the 2022/23 season.

And he only managed to mastermind two wins and five draws times, five losses which all but forced the club to axe him.

The former SuperSport United tactician will be hoping for a change of fortunes at the ambitious Richards Bay FC.

WHAT KAITANO TEMBO AIMS TO FIX

Kaitano Tembo has already identified the first problem he must fix before the 2023/24 DStv Premiership roars into life.

“Apart from the players that were signed before I came, we have a number of players that are training with us,” said Tembo.

“We will make the decision at the right time because there are certain areas that we will try and beef up so that we have a bit of depth in the spine of our team.

“If you look at last season, we struggled when it came to creating chances and scoring goals.

“It’s either we might work a bit with the players available or bring in one or two experienced players.

“There has been progress from what we have done so far. As a coach, you want success, so you have to build. Richards Bay is a young club.

“It’s a new club in the PSL, recently promoted. The second season is the most difficult season for any promoted club.

“We are hoping to be consistent by starting good and be able to maintain that throughout the season,” added the coach.

Last season, Richards Bay FC made a flying start, but they lost steam along the way. And they ended the season in 11th position.

They ended the season with 33 points on their tally after 30 matches, just three points adrift of the relegation zone.

The ambitious Richards Bay FC have so far signed midfielder Boikanyo Komane from All Stars FC.

They also acquired the services of Nkululeko Miya, Thabani Mthembu and Bandile Ndlovu from uMsinga United FC.
