King Ndlovu under assessment at KZN-based club

Former Maritzburg United goalkeeper King Ndlovu is under assessment at the DStv Premiership side based in KZN as he continues to search for a new home.

The 30-year-old was one of the several players who left the Team of Choice at the end of the previous season following their relegation to the second-tier.

Ndlovu has been training with Royal AM, who’ve faced challenges with the goalkeeping department since their number one goalie Patrick Nyame suffered a life-threatening injury.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper was in a coma for almost two days after picking up a head knock in October in a match against SuperSport United.

Since then, they have been relying on Mondli Mpoto. And now it seems like Thwihli Thwahla will be looking to strengthen their side with the former Jomo Cosmos goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

Ndlovu was part of the Royal AM squad that travelled to Ulundi on Saturday for the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup. Maduka’s troops won the tournament after they downed AmaZulu FC 1-0 in the final.

Meanwhile, earlier on the day, AM brushed away Richards Bay FC with a 2-0 scoreline to reach the final.

KING NDLOVU UNDER ASSESSMENT AT ROYAL AM

Speaking to the media after lifting the cup, Maduka said Ndlovu had not signed yet since AM can’t register players at the moment. This is due to the transfer ban imposed on the club after they didn’t pay R12 million owed to their former striker Samir Nurkovic.

According to reports, the club has made a decision to pay the Serbian forward in order to avoid a two-transfer window ban.

“He has not signed yet, remember that we can’t sign for now,” Maduka told the media in Ulundi.

“So, until that time, the club will make the announcement to unveil the players. And that is if everything goes according to the plan.”

On Thursday, AM will host a press conference at their headquarters in Pietermaritzburg. They are expected to announce new signings ahead of the 2023/24 season.
