Ntseki issues an update on Ranga Chivaviro

Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has issued an update on Ranga Chivaviro ahead of their opening DStv Premiership match against Chippa United.

The two sides lock horns on Sunday, 6 August, at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.

Chivaviro joined the Soweto giants ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season following a good personal season with Marumo Gallants.

The 30-year-old was a nightmare for goalkeepers and defenders, scoring goals. However, his efforts were not enough to save the team from relegation in the Premiership. All-in-all, he scored 17 goals in 20 matches in all competitions.

Chivaviro has been absent at Amakhosi’s last two friendly matches against Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans and Botswana giants Township Rollers.

MOPEFI NTSEKI ON RANGA CHIVAVIRO’S AVAILABILITY

The mentor couldn’t disclose whether Chivaviro will feature against Chippa as they are still waiting for the medical report.

“Ranga has been kept training as an individual for a specific reason. If you look at Ranga when he played for Marumo, he played too many matches,” said Ntseki.

“We needed to protect him, and we needed to manage him so when the season starts, he will be in good shape.

“But as of now, we’ll get the report from the medical team in terms of the players that are ready for the weekend and the season.

UPDATE ON OTHER KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS

Ntseki further revealed that they have been hit with injuries from several players who have been missing from action.

“We have a few of them that have been out due to injuries. The obvious one was Dillan Solomons getting injured against Township Rollers. [George] Matlou has been out, Keagan Dolly has been out, and Ash [Ashley Du Preez] has been out for some time.

“We’re working 24/7 on the tactical and mental side of it. The medical team is doing a great job, so we’ll get a report by the end of the week,” he added.
