Truter seeking Mbesuma inspiration ahead of Galaxy clash

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter is hoping that Collins Mbesuma’s past heroics and knowledge will start to rub onto his players as they seek to solve their goal-scoring problems.

Babina Noko will travel to Mbombela on Sunday for a DStv Premiership clash with TS Galaxy. Sekhukhune have scored eight goals in nine matches this season despite the numerous chances created in their matches.

At the beginning of the season, the club roped in former Kaizer Chiefs marksman Collins Mbesuma to work as a striker coach.

CAN COLLINS MBESUMA FIND A QUICK FIX TO SEKHUKHUNE UNITED GOALS PROBLEM?

Truter has hailed the impact that the 39-year-old has had on the team and says having him should serve as an inspiration to the strikers.

“Of course [we expect] more goals. [Collins] Mbesuma still holds the record for most goals in a season and it’s a challenge to these boys to break his record,” said Truter.

“Here and there we can improve, like I said we have been struggling in the last third in terms of scoring goals and that’s why we brought him in.

“He is fantastic on and off the pitch, he gives a lot of motivation and input as well. Hopefully, it will rub off on the boys,” he added.

GOOD AWAY RECORD ENCOURAGES BRANDON TRUTER

Truter will take courage to the fact that out of the eight goals so far, six of them have been on the road. All their three wins in the league so far have also been on the road.

“It’s a difficult game considering how close the league game is, how the Carling Knockout game is. We have to be very careful in terms of our programme and what we want to achieve this weekend in the league against Galaxy.

“We are mindful of the fact that they are unbeaten at home. But at the same time we have a good away record so we are hoping to back on that,” added Truter.
