How Morena Ramoreboli inspires Rulani Mokwena

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed how Morena Ramoreboli has inspired him, as he hails the Jwaneng Galaxy mentor.

Ramoreboli successfully helped Jwaneng to win the 2022/2023 Botswana Premier League, which saw him extending his stay at the club with another season.

He took over the coaching reigns at the Botswana side in 2021, guiding them to the CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history.

To add to that, they began their Champions League group stage journey with a 1-0 shocking away win over Moroccan giants, Wydad Athletic.

The Masandawana coach divulged that Ramoreboli’s success inspires him that he can coach outside South Africa and it’s doable.

“It’s great that we have a South African coach that is doing very well on the continent and particularly outside of the borders of their own country,” said Mokwena.

“It inspires even many of us including myself to say you can coach outside South Africa and you can succeed, and you can win.

“But you still have a long way to go to be outside South Africa because I’m here at Sundowns for a very long time.”

IS MORENA RAMOREBOLI READY TO COACH IN THE PSL? RULANI MOKWENA ANSWERS

Mokwena believes that Ramoreboli is a coach who has what it takes to succeed wherever he coaches, and it cannot be limited to the Motsepe Foundation Championship and DStv Premiership only.

“I don’t know what Morena’s ambitions are. He has done exceptionally well and the country has given him an opportunity to be at the COSAFA Cup,” said Mokwena when asked if he thinks Ramoreboli is ready to coach in the PSL.

“Even in the past before with Maluti FET College, facts are in the pitch. I don’t know what his aims are because you may find out that even his aims are beyond PSL.

“I can’t speak to say let him coach in the PSL, what if his ambitions are greater even wants to coach in North Africa or Europe.”

Mokwena continued: “He has shown his capacity based on the results and he’s a champion in Botswana. He has done exceptionally well when given the opportunity to lead the national team in the COSAFA tournament.
