Calvin Marlin predicts Tshwane Derby outcome

Former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Calvin Marlin has predicted the outcome of the Tshwane Derby.

Tshwane’s top two teams in the PSL will renew their rivalry for the first time this season on Wednesday in the DStv Premiership.

Kickoff at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville is set for 7:30pm.

Heading into the encounter, Masandawana are a highly-motivated side. Bafana Ba Style defeated Nouadhibou FC of Mauritania 3-0 in the CAF Champions League group stage opener.

On the other side, Matsatsantsa will be aiming to get back to winning ways following a 1-0 defeat against Modern Future FC of Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup first match in the group stages.

In the league standings, the two sides are one point apart. Second-placed Sundowns have 24 points from eight matches, while SuperSport are third with 23 points from 12 outings.

CALVIN MARLIN SAYS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS WILL WIN THE TSHWANE DERBY

Marlin says Sundowns will come out victorious, but it won’t be a walk in the park.

“I think Mamelodi Sundowns are going to win the match, but it’s going to be a difficult and a tight contest,” Marlin told FARPost.

“This encounter will get SuperSport to be fired up, want to compete, and give it their all on the field. I think it will be a tight scoreline at the end, 2-1 in favour of Sundowns. There won’t be too much difference.”

CALVIN MARLIN PICKS PLAYERS THAT COULD LIGHT UP THE TSHWANE DERBY

Marlin further picked the players to watch that could make a huge difference.

“For me, [Grant] Margeman will be the difference for SuperSport,” he added. As for Sundowns, they got stars.

“Anyone in their starting 11 can win them the match. They got Peter Shalulile in attack and Ronwen Willams has been brilliant in goal this season.”
