Kagiso Malinga completes move to KZN club
Following his contract termination with Moroka Swallows, FARPost has established that Kagiso Malinga has signed for the KZN club.
The 28-year-old forward recently left the Dube Birds, ending an over three-year spell with the Soweto-based club. He first joined them in 2019 on a loan deal from SuperSport United.
They then signed him permanently in 2020 after he left Matsatsantsa, having featured only three times for the Swanky Boys.
Malinga, who has been a regular feature for the Birds, racked up over 80 appearances, netting seven goals and providing one assist since he joined the club.
It is believed his departure from Swallows may have to do with the challenges that have faced the club lately. The David Mogashoa-owned side was recently fined by PSL for missing two league matches due to a players’ strike over the reported unpaid salaries.
Further, following the players’ disciplinary hearing at the club, more exits are expected ahead of the shutdown of the midseason transfer window.
KAGISO MALINGA SIGNS FOR GOLDEN ARROWS
With Malinga being their first departure, this publication has learnt that he has put pen to paper at Golden Arrows, with the club’s announcement due soon.
It is understood the Mpumalanga-born touched down in Durban on Sunday and will join his new teammates when they return to training this week.
He’s expected to give Mabhuti Khenyeza a boost offensively, with Arrows having endured a poor spell just before the end of the first round.
Malinga becomes the second signing for Arrows since last month as they reunited with their prodigal son Sibusiso Sibeko in December.
The attacking midfielder had been training with Royal AM after parting ways with Marumo Gallants following their relegation to the second-tier league at the end of the last season.
Arrows will begin their second round with a tough fixture, welcoming the league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, on 14 February at Mpumalanga Stadium.
