Sekhukhune eliminated from Confed Cup after draw with RS Berkane 

Sekhukhune United have been eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup following their 0-0 draw against RS Berkane at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday night.

Despite not producing any goals and Sekhukhune’s journey in the CAF inter-club football coming to an end with a game to spare, this encounter was one of the mouthwatering showpieces from the first minute till the last minute.

This contest made a good viewing for the spectators in the stands and viewers at home.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED NOT CLINICAL 

Sekhukhune couldn’t capitalise on their clear-cut chances, However, the Moroccan side put in a resilient defensive performance to deny the efforts of Lehlohonolo Seema‘s attackers.

As the game progressed Babina Noko tried to shake things up and take command of the showdown, unfortunately, they couldn’t create much when they had a chance to do so.

JAMIE WEBBER SENT OFF

Sekhukhune were reduced to 10-man as Jamie Webber received a straight card in the 41st minute of the clash.  

RS BERKANE GIVING SEKHUKHUNE UNITED HARD TIME

The Moroccan side did not just sit back and watch their opponents come at them. The visitors tried to push forward in numbers and came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock. 

RS Berkane were cutting through the Sekhukhune defence at some point, trying to force them into errors, as they operated a shoot-on-sight policy at times. 

FANS TURN OUT

Only a few football fanatics came to attend the match, as many seats were not occupied at the beautiful Peter Mokaba Stadium.  

Gone are the days when local games were played in front of full houses.

Sekhukhune will play their last group stage match against Diables Noirs away from home on Sunday, 3 March 2024.
