Dan Malesela makes another plea to ‘save’ South African football

Baroka FC head coach Dan Malesela has once again made a plea for South Africans to save the current state of football, which he says is not going anywhere.

Malesela’s side went down 2-0 against rivals Magesi FC in a Motsepe Foundation Championship match on Sunday.

Baroka are one of the teams that stand a great chance of securing promotion back to the DStv Premiership with 10 matches remaining.

In recent times, Malesela has been vocal over the state of officiating in the first division. He once again made reference to his club being subjected to things that are not good but refused to be specific.

“There are other things I don’t want to talk about. People and life will solve itself,” he said. “If people sleep well at home because their stomach is full, then it’s okay. That’s why I am saying I don’t want to dwell on that, but it’s a pity again.

“I will repeat this because I said it before: the only thing that will struggle is South African football. That I can guarantee. As long as things are happening in this football, South African football will stand still,” added Malesela.

WHY DAN MALESELA WANTS SOUTH AFRICANS TO SAVE THE STATE OF FOOTBALL

“If we don’t stand up and correct it like we stood up for everything that we have now in this country. We must stand up for our football and correct it otherwise it’s not going to go anywhere,” he explained further.

“Somebody comes from somewhere and they don’t know the scoreline, what do you think they will say about who is leading? The team that is playing better. But it is the one that is suppressed.”

He was asked to elaborate further on what he meant but again refused.

“But it’s okay. I am not going to say anything about it; I am just saying we must correct our football. We must get it right. One is unfortunate that we are subjected to these things but not once. So many times, but it’s okay.”
