Tlou Segolela’s wish for Bafana star Elias Mokwana
Elias Mokwana’s former team manager, Tlou Segolela, has not only offered valuable advice to the Bafana Bafana star but also revealed his preferred move for the sought-after player.
Mokwana has been a revelation for Sekhukhune United since joining the club last season from Platinum City Rovers. The winger spent a season at the Motsepe Foundation Championship side under Segolela’s guidance.
The 24-year-old was recently rewarded with two Bafana caps by coach Hugo Broos during the FIFA international friendlies in Algeria. While there have been growing links with a potential move to bigger teams, Segolela believes Mokwana is destined for Europe if he remains focused.
“He is a very fantastic player and very direct, a very tricky player. You never know if he is coming in or out,” Segolela told FARPost.
WHY TLOU SEGOLELA BELIEVES ELIAS MOKWANA IS DESTINED FOR EUROPE
“We hope he also keeps the same level of focus. For him to reach this kind of performance, the chances that he can secure a move abroad are very high. He must just be humble. He has worked hard for this, and it’s his chance.
“We are very happy that even coach Hugo Broos also saw that. There are so many things that can distract him and I just hope that he continues to focus on his game. With proper guidance, he will definitely reach the highest level.”
BAFANA BAFANA STAR ADVISED TO REMAIN HUMBLE AND FOCUS ON HIS BLOSSOMING CAREER
Segolela has described Mokwana’s progress as an inspiration to his former teammates at City Rovers.
“It’s also an inspiring story for the boys. They played with him and saw his progress, but their football journey differs. Some get there early, and some make it late.
“But as a team, we are very happy. It’s a boy that we believed in. It’s a boy that we gave an opportunity to when he was still at a young age while we were in the ABC Motsepe League and got promoted with him,” added Segolela.
“I remember Sekhukhune inquired about his services just after one game. Coach Shaun Bartlett knows him very well. I remember one game he took one of his players to the cleaners and the player was replaced after suffering from cramps.”
