Njabulo Ngcobo lands at Sekhukhune United after Chiefs exit
Following his release from Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season, experienced defender Njabulo Ngcobo has found a new home at Sekhukhune United.
The move bolsters Sekhukhune’s backline just as they prepare for the 2024/25 PSL campaign under their new German coach, Peter Hyballa.
Ngcobo wasn’t the only new face unveiled at Sekhukhune on Tuesday. He was joined by winger Joseph Mphaga, who also completed his move to the club.
The defender’s exit from Amakhosi marked the culmination of a three-year stint that fell short of its initial promise. Having joined Amakhosi in 2021 from Moroka Swallows as the celebrated PSL Defender of the Season, his playing time became limited.
Despite his accolades, he never fully cemented his place in the starting line-up. The 30-year-old made 45 appearances in Chiefs colours before he was released alongside Keagan Dolly, Siyethemba Sithebe and Sifiso Hlanti on June 29.
Sekhukhune did not disclose the official length of Ngcobo’s contract; however, as previously reported by FARPost, he has reportedly penned a three-year deal with Babina Noko.

Sekhukhune United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Njabulo Ngcobo and winger Joseph Mphaga,” reads the brief club statement. “Welcome to the Babina Noko Family.”
Winger Mphaga arrives at Sekhukhune with the potential to be a breakout star. While not yet a household name, he joins the Limpopo side after impressing in the ABC Motsepe League with Highlands Park.
It seems the youngster’s skills on the wing caught the eye of Sekhukhune’s scouts, and he will be hoping to continue his development and establish himself in the SA elite league.
Ngcobo and Mphaga aren’t the only new faces strengthening Sekhukhune’s squad. The duo joins a wave of signings that includes Thabang Monare, Keletso Makgalwa, Relebohile Mokhuoane, Loydt Kazapua, and Vuyo Letlapa.
These acquisitions come amidst a significant squad overhaul, with the Sekhukhune releasing 13 players, including Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Edwin Gyimah and Kamohelo Mokotjo.
