Ex-Pirates star receives a glowing assessment on his career revival

Ex-Orlando Pirates winger Kuda Mahachi has received a glowing assessment as his revival continues under ex-Black Leopards coach Jairos Tapera.

Mahachi is reviving his career at Manica Diamonds in Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Unlike Khama Billiat and Evans Rusike who are also playing in Zimbabwe, Mahachi is yet to score in all competitions. Billiat has nine goals and six assists under his belt, while Rusike has found the target on four occasions.

Mahachi, on the other hand, has had relatively steady progress where he has only managed to provide three assists in over ten appearances.

So much is expected from him, considering his profile. However, he has found himself in the shadows of Micheal Tapera at Manica Diamonds.

WHAT COACH TAPERA SAID ABOUT THE WINGER MAHACHI

Former Orlando Pirates winger Kuda Mahachi has received a glowing assessment as his revival continues under ex-Black Leopards coach Jairos Tapera.

Nevertheless, his current coach, Tapera, is impressed by how the former Pirates and SuperSport United man has progressed.

In an interview with FARPost, Tapera said they took a cautious approach with the winger, knowing how the long lay-off affected him.

“When he came here, I decided that we take a cautious approach. So much was obviously expected from him. But there is no need to put pressure on him because of where he was coming from.

“Even in his prime, Kuda was not known for scoring, but he was a provider, so that is what we are working to achieve. We want to bring him back to that level.

“From what I see every day, I believe he still has what it takes to make a big impact and even get back his place in the national team.

“By being part of the team, he has hugely influenced the players. He has positively impacted our team because he is a leader in his own right.

“He went through a lot before joining us, so we are giving him time to find himself. We still have two years with him, so we are giving him the time he needs to blossom again,” Tapera said.
