Namibian international Bethuel Muzeu is expected to become one of the most sought-after free agents following the relegation of Black Leopards. The talented forward has been linked to four teams in the top-flight.
Leopards were relegated to the amateur league despite a 2-1 victory over Venda FC on Sunday afternoon. Lidoda Duvha are 15th on the log with 28 points. And with only one match remaining, they are mathematically unable to move out of the relegation zone. They join fellow Limpopo side Baroka FC in the ABC Motsepe League.
The former Premiership outfit’s drop to the ABC Motsepe League could trigger a scramble for the versatile attacker, with several Betway Premiership clubs believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
Muzeu has been one of Leopards’ standout performers over the past few seasons and has remained a key figure despite the club’s struggles. He has previously attracted interest in the Betway Premiership but could not move due to a lengthy contract.
Before an injury sidelined him in March, Muzeu had already contributed eight goals this campaign. A regular for the Brave Warriors, Muzeu is particularly attractive to potential suitors for his versatility. Comfortable across the frontline, he can operate as a central striker, second forward or on either wing.

He showcased his flexibility on the international stage at the 2023 AFCON in the Ivory Coast, where he played on the left wing for the Namibia national team. His energy and work rate were key to Namibia’s run to the last 16 in one of the country’s most memorable AFCON campaigns.
WHICH BETWAY PREMIERSHIP TEAMS ARE MONITORING MUZEU?
Among the teams understood to have shown interest are Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu FC, Stellenbosch FC and Motsepe Foundation Championship champions Kruger United. Kruger will play in the top-flight in the 2026/27 season after gaining automatic promotion.
With Leopards set to compete in amateur football next season, Muzeu’s professional contract is expected to fall away, allowing him to join a new club as a free agent.
Last season, Kaizer Chiefs capitalised on Cape Town Spurs’ troubles by signing talented duo Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman without transfer fees after CT Spurs’ collapse. Liam Bern also joined AmaZulu FC in a similar fashion.
NSL rules classify the ABC Motsepe League as amateur, allowing players from relegated sides to become free agents. That interpretation was upheld by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC] in the case of the Spurs trio.
Now, Muzeu appears poised to become the latest high-quality player available on the market and with his proven track record, clubs are unlikely to hesitate for long.
