With his side having qualified for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucky Mohomi has set his sights on a return to the professional ranks in the PSL.

Mohomi is currently in the books of Mpumalanga side Luthuli Brigades, who have secured a spot in the upcoming third-tier league playoffs.

A top-two finish will guarantee the club a status in the Motsepe Foundation Championship ahead of next season.

The 35-year-old has been with the club since November 2025. His last professional team was Leruma United, who were relegated at the end of last season.

During his professional career, which began in 2016 at now-defunct Free State Stars, Mohomi has featured for clubs such as Sundowns, SuperSport United, Venda FC, Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay FC.

Speaking to FARPost ahead of the playoffs set for June at a venue yet to be confirmed by SAFA, Mohomi has reflected on what has been a decent campaign for the club.

“With the young squad that we have, we did well to achieve what we did,” Mohomi told FARPost.

“I also believe that with the hard work that they have put in, we have a chance of gaining promotion. They do have the talent, but most importantly, they work hard.

“So with the team, the coaches and the management, plus the belief that they have, I am confident we can get the promotion. Remember, we also went to the Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup. So it means it was good this season.

“We just have to put everything we have during the playoffs and see what happens. But I do believe that the boys are capable of taking the team up,” he added.
