Siwelele FC have identified Botswana international goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko as a key transfer target as they prepare to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Betway Premiership side is expected to part ways with goalkeeper Samukelo Xulu, creating room for a new arrival between the posts. FARPost understands that Xulu, previously with SuperSport United, is on the verge of leaving following another difficult campaign with limited opportunities.
Sources indicate that Siwelele FC have earmarked Phoko as a potential replacement. The Zebras goalie is expected to become available on a free transfer when his contract with Jwaneng Galaxy expires at the end of June.
The 31-year-old enhanced his reputation at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, delivering a series of impressive performances for Botswana despite the Zebras’ early exit. His displays, together with extensive CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup experience, have made him an attractive option on the transfer market.
Siwelele believe Phoko possesses the quality and experience required to challenge Ricardo Goss for the number one jersey. Goss, who spent last season on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, is expected to remain at the club for another campaign, but the club is determined to increase competition in the goalkeeping department.
GOITSEONE PHOKO VIEWED AS IDEAL COMPETITION FOR GOSS

The club reportedly views ‘Chichima’, as Phoko is affectionately known, as an ideal fit due to his international pedigree and experience in continental competitions.
His potential arrival would not only strengthen Siwelele’s goalkeeping options but also provide healthy competition for Goss as the club prepares for a demanding 2026/27 season. The prospect of signing the Botswana goalkeeper on a free transfer further enhances his appeal.
Meanwhile, Xulu’s expected departure would bring an end to a frustrating spell at the club. The former SuperSport United goalkeeper failed to make a league appearance during the recently concluded campaign.
His only competitive outing came in the Carling Knockout Cup against Orlando Pirates, where Siwelele FC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Despite his lack of club football, Xulu remained involved with the national team and was part of the South Africa squad that participated in the African Nations Championship [CHAN]. He also provided cover on the bench in 22 matches across all competitions.
