Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United have rubbished claims regarding the potential sale of the club and dismissed reports suggesting a mass player clear-out ahead of the new campaign.
However, despite their on-field success, off-field speculation has threatened to disrupt their preparations for life in the Betway Premiership.
This comes after several media reports emerged suggesting that the Mpumalanga-based outfit was up for sale.
Kruger United recently secured automatic promotion to the South African top-flight after an impressive campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where a stellar run of six consecutive victories helped them clinch the title with two games to spare.
They finished the 2025/26 season at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with 62 points from 30 outings, an impressive eight-point lead over second-placed Cape Town City FC.
In addition, Kruger have reportedly cut ties with several senior players, including Kagiso Malinga, Celimpilo Ngema, Khethukuthula Ndlovu, Georges Lata, Kabelo Seriba, and Philasande Manqele. But the club has since described the media reports as “misleading”.

KRUGER UNITED’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT
In response to the growing speculation, the club released a firm statement to clear the air and reassure its stakeholders.
“Kruger United FC has noted with concern the false and misleading information currently circulating on various platforms regarding the alleged sale of the club, as well as reports claiming that certain players have been released,” said the club in a statement released on Monday, 15 June.
“The club would like to categorically state that these reports are completely false and without any factual basis. Kruger United FC has not been sold, nor has the club made any official announcements regarding the release of players.
“We urge our supporters and the general public not to believe or share unverified information. All official club announcements and updates will only be communicated through Kruger United FC’s official communication channels.”
With the sale claims addressed, Kruger are expected to shift their focus entirely back to preparing their squad for their maiden season in the elite league, with player exits and new arrivals also expected during the upcoming July transfer window.
