Golden Arrows confirm Pitso Dladla’s appointment

Coach Pitso Dladla unveiled by Golden Arrows

Betway Premiership side Golden Arrows have confirmed the appointment of 2026 Nedbank Cup-winning coach Pitso Dladla as the club’s new gaffer for the upcoming season.

Arrows announced Dladla’s appointment on Wednesday morning, bringing a swift end to speculation about their vacant coaching role. Dladla’s arrival comes just two days after Durban City FC confirmed his departure following a successful campaign with the club.

He will officially succeed Manqoba Mngqithi at the helm of the KwaZulu-Natal [KZN] side, Arrows.

Dladla joins Abafana Bes’thende with an impressive recent track record. He was an integral part of the technical team that secured Durban City’s promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the elite league at the end of the 2024/25 season.

He then stepped up to guide the club to their first-ever major domestic silverware, defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 in a thrilling Nedbank Cup final at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in May 2026.

By lifting the Nedbank Cup, Dladla broke a 17-year trophy drought for KZN teams. The last KZN team to win a major domestic cup was Arrows themselves back in 2009—coached by Mngqithi—when they thrashed Ajax Cape Town 6-0 to lift the MTN8 trophy.

The club released a statement confirming the tactician’s arrival on Wednesday, 24 June.

“Sthende Nation welcomes Head Coach Pitso Dladla,” reads the club’s official statement.

Dladla arrives at a time when Arrows are restructuring their entire backroom department. Mngqithi and his assistant coaches, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Musa Bilankulu, have parted ways with the club as their contracts expire at the end of June.

Arrows finished in sixth position in the Betway Premiership log standings in the just-concluded season, accumulating 41 points from 30 outings.

As previously reported by FARPost, Arrows have also strengthened their technical team by securing the services of goalkeeper coach Jacob Mokhasi, who was previously with Marumo Gallants.
