Stellenbosch FC have announced the exit of Kaizer Chiefs youth product Omega Mdaka, who is set to reunite with former Amakhosi coach Arthur Zwane at AmaZulu FC.
The talented left-back is joining Usuthu to start a new chapter under Zwane, who is aiming to build a competitive squad to challenge for domestic trophies.
Mdaka and Zwane worked together during their days in the Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge side a few years ago. The 22-year-old defender has been at Stellies for the past two seasons after signing with the Winelands-based side in July 2024 from the Soweto giants.
During his spell with Stellenbosch, Mdaka showcased his impressive qualities, contributing in defence and providing options in attack. The highly-rated wing-back was a key player at Stellenbosch, which prompted AmaZulu to move swiftly to acquire his services for the 2026/27 season.
Mdaka made 51 appearances across all competitions for Stellenbosch, registering one goal and one assist.
OMEGA MDAKA JOINS AMAZULU ON PERMANENT TRANSFER

“Stellenbosch FC has bid farewell to defender Omega Mdaka, who has completed a permanent transfer to AmaZulu FC,” the clubs said on Monday.
“Mdaka joined the Maroons in 2024 and enjoyed a goal-scoring debut against Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Confederation Cup, before going on to make 51 appearances for the Club across all competitions.
“During his spell in the Winelands, the 22-year-old helped Stellenbosch FC reach back-to-back MTN8 finals, and he was nominated for the Club’s Young Player of the Season award in 2026.
“Everyone at Stellenbosch FC thanks Omega for his contributions and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch also confirmed the loan move of striker Muzomuhle Khanyi, who is joining Chippa United on a season-long loan for the upcoming campaign.
“Stellenbosch FC can confirm that Muzomuhle Khanyi has completed a season-long loan move to Chippa United, the club added.
“The 27-year-old will spend the 2026/27 campaign with Chippa United in the Eastern Cape after the clubs reached an agreement over a short-term loan.
“Khanyi made 19 appearances across all competitions for Stellenbosch FC last season, with his solitary goal for the club coming in a 4-3 Betway Premiership win over Golden Arrows in October. We wish Muzomuhle all the best in this new chapter of his career and remain committed to supporting his progress from afar.”
