Former AmaZulu FC forward Jacky Ledwaba has shared his thoughts following his recent change of roles at Magesi FC ahead of the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Magesi’s technical shake-up follows their relegation from the Betway Premiership to the National First Division [NFD], after failing to retain their top-flight status during the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs.
Ledwaba, who served as the first assistant coach at Dikwena Tša Meetse during their two-season stint in the Betway Premiership, has been redeployed to the position of team manager.
The reshuffle comes after Magesi overhauled their technical team, appointing Kabelo Sibiya as the new head coach to replace veteran mentor Allan Freese. Sibiya will be assisted by Timothy Madia, alongside video analyst Rene McCarthy, fitness coach Nkosinathi Shongwe, and Aubrey Vilakazi, who will serve as the goalkeeper coach.

JACKY LEDWABA WEIGHS IN ON HIS NEW ROLE AT MAGESI FC
Despite the shift from the dugout to management, Ledwaba insists he remains an integral part of the technical setup and views the transition as a long-awaited opportunity.
“Well, I won’t be lost in coaching. As a team manager, I am part of coaching. My work will be to help the head coach and the assistant coach. We will work hand in hand,” Ledwaba told journalists in Polokwane last Friday.
“I think we are going to make a very good team. You know, for me to be a team manager, I think it is a blessing in disguise. All along, since I have retired from football, that has been the position that I wanted to pursue. So, now that it has come, I’ll be there and close to the players.”
With over a decade of dedication to the Limpopo-based outfit, Ledwaba believes his knowledge of the club’s ins and outs will be vital in their quest for a return to the South African elite league.
“I have been with the club for 14 years. I know the ins and outs of the team. So, I think this is the best role for me to help the team gain promotion back to the Betway Premiership,” he concluded.
