The Premier Soccer League [PSL] have officially confirmed the venue and kick-off details for the upcoming MTN8 quarter-final fixtures set to take place this weekend.
The top eight teams from the previous Betway Premiership season will battle it out for the silverware in what promises to be an action-packed weekend of cup football.
Kaizer Chiefs returns to the competition after missing out on the top-eight bracket for the past two seasons.
On the other hand, Durban City FC secured their top-eight spot in their first season back in the top flight following their rebranding from Maritzburg United.
Meanwhile, reigning champions Orlando Pirates will be aiming to make history by lifting the trophy for an unprecedented fifth consecutive time.
THE MTN8 QUARTER-FINALS FIXTURE DETAILS
Action kicks off on Saturday, 8 August, when defending champions Pirates host Durban City at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
Later that evening, Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Polokwane City FC to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville at 18:00. Rise and Shine enter the clash under new leadership, with Willy Moloto taking the reins following the departure of coach Phuti Mohafe. The latter has since joined Marumo Gallants as head coach.
On Sunday, 9 August, Arthur Zwane’s AmaZulu FC lock horns with Cedric Kaze’s Sekhukhune United at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban at 15:00.
The quarter-final weekend wraps up at 18:00, when Amakhosi take on Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.
PSL’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON MTN8 QUARTER-FINALS
In a statement released on Monday morning, the PSL also announced that ticket information will be announced later today.
“The matches, dates, kick-off times and venues for the MTN8 quarter-finals are all set. Ticket information to be confirmed,” reads the PSL statement.
The tournament’s launch will be held on Wednesday, 5 August, at SuperSport Studio 6. The launch will start at 18:30.
