Former Orlando Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa has completed a move to Moroccan side Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès [MAS Fès] ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The 2023/24 Betway Premiership Golden Boot winner, affectionately nicknamed ‘Sniper’ for his lethal instincts inside the 18-yard area, makes the switch to the Botola Pro Inwi champions following his departure from the Soweto giants.
Mabasa’s contract with Pirates lapsed at the end of June 2026, bringing an end to his tenure with the Buccaneers—a spell that included loan moves to Moroka Swallows, Sekhukhune United, and Stellenbosch FC.
Before he penned a deal with the Moroccan club, Mabasa was linked with a potential move to another Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, however, nothing positive came out from those rumours.
A NEW CHAPTER IN NORTH AFRICA FOR TSHEGOFATSO MABASA
Having established himself as one of South Africa’s top goalscorers, the 29-year-old now takes his talents abroad as he looks set to test himself in the competitive North African football.
He joins the Moroccan outfit in MAS Fès, who secured the Botola Pro title last season under the guidance of former AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martín.
Seeking to reinforce their frontline ahead of a demanding schedule, the Fez-based side acted swiftly to secure the services of the South African frontman on a free transfer.
Mabasa leaves South Africa with a formidable domestic track record, having registered over 50 goals across 184 league appearances alongside more than 13 strikes in domestic cup competitions.
According to local reports, Mabasa has signed a three-year deal with the Moroccan outfit, with an official announcement expected in due course.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic marksman will be aiming to hit the ground running in North Africa as MAS Fès prepare to launch the defence of their domestic crown and mount a serious challenge on the continental stage in the CAF Champions League.
