Marumo Gallants midfielder Ibrahim Bance is now free to sign for a club of his choice after finally receiving clearance following a contractual dispute. The Burkinabe international’s future had been in limbo after Gallants attempted to exercise an option to extend his stay beyond the expiry of his initial one-year contract.
As previously reported by FARPost, Gallants chairman Abram Sello admitted the club had struggled to agree terms with Bance over the option, revealing that negotiations had broken down despite their efforts to retain one of last season’s standout performers. That impasse has now been resolved, with Bance obtaining his clearance and becoming a free agent.
The development brings an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding the 25-year-old, who had not reported for Gallants’ pre-season preparations amid the contractual disagreement. Bance now becomes available on the market after an impressive debut Betway Premiership campaign in which he established himself as one of Gallants’ key performers. His performances last season attracted interest from several South African clubs, while teams in North Africa have also been closely monitoring his situation.
WHAT IS BANCE’S PREFERRED OPTION?
Sources close to the player have maintained that a move abroad remains Bance’s preferred option, although interest from local clubs is expected to intensify now that there are no contractual obstacles standing in the way of a transfer. Gallants, meanwhile, have already moved on with their squad planning for the 2026/27 campaign.
Gallants, who recently moved to Rustenburg, have made several signings during the transfer window, bringing in Botswana international Thabang Sesinyi, Thato Mohlamme, Thulani Zandamela, Thokozani Lukhele, Prince Manku, Mlungisi Sikakane, Patrick Motsoeneng, Khomotso Marebane, Samkelo Sihlali, Thabiso Mkhwanazi, Onalenna Lepelesana and Lebogang Button.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa are still awaiting the start of their Betway Premiership season after their opening fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns was postponed. The Brazilians requested the postponement following the death of Jayden Adams and other logistical factors.
The match is expected to be rescheduled later this month. They play Kruger United on 11 August at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
