Orlando Pirates legend Eugene Zwane has delivered an honest assessment of the Buccaneers’ winger Kabelo Kgositsile following his official debut for the Soweto giants a fortnight ago.
Kgositsile secured a move to Pirates from Baroka FC in March 2025. He subsequently spent the 2025/26 season back on loan with Bakgaga to continue his development before joining the Sea Robbers’ squad ahead of the current campaign.
The 21-year-old winger made his debut in Pirates colours on Saturday, 1 August, as Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side secured a 2-0 victory over Betway Premiership newcomers Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena.
The rising right-winger was introduced in the second half of the encounter, coming on for Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis in the 66th minute.
Coincidentally, Kgositsile replaced Appollis at the exact same minute as he did in their league match against Milford, this time during Saturday’s 2-1 MTN8 quarter-final victory over Durban City FC.
‘SOMETHING SPECIAL IS COMING’: EUGENE ZWANE
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FARPost, the former Pirates star Zwane praised the youngster’s fearless approach, pointing out that his willingness to take on opposition defenders bodes well for the Betway Premiership reigning champions.
“You know, the boy can be a game changer for Pirates this season if he continues to play as he did in his first game for them,” Zwane told FARPost.
“He’s a winger who plays in the position [winger] I used to play, although I was on the left. The one thing about a winger is that if he’s bold enough to take on defenders, then you know we have a chance of creating opportunities, bringing in crosses, and producing passes for the attacking midfielders and strikers.
“So, if he managed to do that on his first day, then you must know that something special is coming.”
Zwane went on to reveal that Kgositsile will be a major problem for rival teams this season if he maintains his debut performance.
“He wasn’t shy to take on Milford defenders; as he walked onto the pitch, a few minutes later he was already taking them on. So, that’s the very positive side. As he grows in confidence, he’s going to be a problem for the opposition defenders,” Zwane added.
