Golden Arrows head coach Pitso Dladla has reflected on his side’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final first leg, outlining their plan to finish the job in the return leg and secure a spot in the final.
The KZN-based side secured a hard-fought win against Sundowns at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium Sunday afternoon, putting them on foot into the final of the top eight competition.
Arrows stunned Sundowns with a solitary strike from Junior Dion, who found the back of the net in the 38th minute after capitalising on a lapse of concentration in defence from the home side.
After the lead in the first-half, Abafana Bes’thende stood resolute in the backline to prevent Sundowns from scoring a goal and ultimately walk away with a crucial win.

With Arrows holding an important away-goal heading into the second-leg, Pitso Dladla has disclosed that his charges will be looking to come out guns blazing against Sundowns next weekend to advance to the final of the MTN8, where they could face a winner between Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United.
In another semi-final, Pirates also have a one-goal lead against Babina Noko as the two sides will tussle for a spot in the final next weekend.
“Remember the nature of the tournament, the semis are played on two legs. You get a goal away, you have an away-goal advantage,” the former Durban City FC mentor said.
“So we will be more aggressive in our approach, but we’re still going to sit together as the technical team and plan well. We need to be more aggressive because if we are able to score first or get a goal at home, we will stand a big chance of emerging victorious.”
