Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has weighed in on how Golden Arrows can frustrate Mamelodi Sundowns in their MTN8 second-leg semi-final clash on Sunday.
Abafana Bes’thende head into the decisive second leg with an advantage, having secured a shock 1-0 victory in the first leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville last weekend.
The return leg is scheduled to take place at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday, 30 August, with kick-off set for 15:00.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with FARPost, Majoro explained the key tactical elements Arrows must leverage to hold off the Chloorkop-based outfit.
Majoro emphasised that momentum in cup fixtures can shift quickly, noting that time will be Arrows’ greatest ally as the match progresses.

“Well, football doesn’t have a ‘therefore.’ Arrows did manage to win away from home in the first leg. But I think the longer it takes for Sundowns to find the back of the net, the more frustrated they will become. The longer it takes, the more difficult it will be for Sundowns to break through Arrows,” Majoro told FARPost.
“I know Arrows are good at counter-attacking football. So, if Sundowns struggle and become desperate, Arrows might get that breakthrough and extend their lead.”

Despite pointing out how Arrows’ could frustrate Sundowns, the former forward cautioned that Masandawana remain a dangerous side, highlighting their impressive mid-week performance against AmaZulu FC.
“However, if anything I saw in Sundowns’ game that they played in midweek against AmaZulu FC, winning 5-2, is any indication, Sundowns might find themselves in the final. I think Sundowns were sending a message to everyone with the beautiful goals they scored and the team spirit they displayed; it really showed that they mean business,” he concluded.
