Golden Arrows head coach Pitso Dladla has provided clarity on the delayed debut of marquee signing Jonah Fabisch, following his arrival ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
Fabisch committed his future to Abafana Bes’thende during the current transfer window, embarking on a new chapter in South African football after parting ways with German 3. Liga side Erzgebirge Aue. The midfielder landed on local soil in July 2026, drawing significant interest from several domestic suitors before ultimately putting pen to paper with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
The Zimbabwean international was brought to Durban as a direct replacement for Isaac Cisse, who anchored the central midfield position with distinction before earning a high-profile move to Belgian Pro League side RC Sporting Charleroi. In the wake of Cisse’s departure, the Arrows management turned to Fabisch, confident that his tactical pedigree and technical qualities would bolster their engine room.
JONAH FABISCH SIDELINED WITH INJURY
Despite the 25-year-old joining the club during pre-season, he has sat out all seven of Arrows’ competitive fixtures across all competitions so far this term. The ongoing omission had fuelled questions among supporters eager to see the former Hamburger SV youth product in action.
However, head coach Pitso Dladla has cleared up the situation surrounding Fabisch’s absence from the matchday squad, confirming that the dynamic midfielder is sidelined due to a physical setback.
“For now, he [Fabisch] is with our medical team,” Dladla said at King Zwelithini Stadium after Arrows suffered a 3-2 aggregate defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final. “He sustained a minor injury in training. They are working on him.”
With the medical staff managing his recovery, Abafana Bes’thende will hope the versatile midfielder regains full fitness promptly as they look to build momentum in their league campaign.
