Mamelodi Sundowns extended a PSL-record unbeaten home streak following a 2-0 victory over Milford FC in their Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday night.
The win sees the Sundowns move level on points with log leaders Orlando Pirates, both standing on 13 points after five league encounters.
FARPost looks at the four key talking points from this showpiece at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
1. MAMELODI SUNDOWNS EXTEND PSL HOME RECORD
Masandawana set a new record in PSL history by stretching their unbeaten home league run to 33 consecutive matches.
In this impressive period, Bafana Ba Style have registered 30 wins and three draws at home. The last time the Chloorkop-based outfit suffered a home defeat in the league was against Cape Town City FC on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign.
2. MILFORD FC FELL SHORT WITHOUT MENZI CHILI
Milford locked horns with Miguel Cardoso’s side without key attacking midfielder Menzi Chili, who was serving the final match of his two-game suspension.
Chili received his marching orders [red card] during Milford’s 2-1 victory over Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium on 15 August. Having featured in all of the KwaZulu-Natal outfit’s opening three games, his absence was felt in the final third.

3. IQRAAM RAYNERS OPENS HIS ACCOUNT
Bafana Bafana international Iqraam Rayners got off the mark for Sundowns this season, scoring the decisive goal in first-half stoppage time.
Having made five appearances across all competitions so far this term—including three in the league—the forward registered his first goal, and has a single assist.
Meanwhile, winger Antonio Van Wyk added to the scoreline in the 76th minute to seal all the three points for Sundowns.
4. RONWEN WILLIAMS TESTED BY SPIRITED MILFORD FC
Milford refused to simply defend, pushing forward in numbers and forcing Ronwen Williams into several decisive saves throughout the contest.
Despite the pressure, the Bafana Bafana skipper held firm to secure his second league clean sheet of the season.
Additionally, ‘Ronza’—as he’s affectionately known in football circles—was named Man of the Match following a stellar performance tonight.
