Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has committed his future to Austrian outfit SV Ried, signing an improved contract extension with the club.
His agency, P Management, officially confirmed the move and released a brief statement on Friday, 4 September, celebrating the player’s new deal: “Congratulations to Yusuf Maart for being rewarded with a well-deserved improved contract by SV Ried.”
However, the P Management agency provided no details regarding the improvements to Maart’s new contract, with SV Ried yet to make any official statement.
Maart’s extension comes off the back of an impressive spell in Austria, where his leadership, consistency, and tactical versatility in the heart of the midfield quickly established him as a key figure in the squad.
The former Sekhukhune United man participated in 38 matches across all competitions for SV Ried last season and contributed one assist.
Meanwhile, he has already featured six times for his club in the current campaign, contributing one assist. His performances have not only cemented his spot in the starting line-up but have now earned him a new contract.
YUSUF MAART’S EUROPEAN MOVE PAYING OFF
Maart moved to SV Ried in July 2025 after parting ways with Chiefs. During his time at Naturena, he wore the captain’s armband and led Amakhosi to ending their 10-year trophy drought, scoring against Orlando Pirates in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final.
His transition to European football has since proven to be a resounding success. By tying down the hardworking midfielder, SV Ried has secured vital experience and stability in the middle of the park as they push for a strong campaign.
For Maart, the improved contract reflects both the club’s trust in his capabilities and his growing reputation abroad.
If he maintains his strong performances, he could earn a call-up from new Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane, who recently indicated a willingness to give overseas-based players an opportunity.
