Fresh off his departure from FC Platinum, former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane is set to land his next head coaching job with Botswana giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs, FARPost can reveal.
Letsholonyane emerged as the top candidate for Mochudi Centre Chiefs and is set to take over from Miguel Corral Torreira, who was fired on Monday, three matches into the 2026/27 Botswana Premier League season.
The ambitious club currently sits seventh on the log standings with four points from one win, one draw and one loss. As such, they have moved quickly to appoint ‘Yeye’ following his impressive work at Matebele FC.
The 44-year-old was nominated for Coach of the Year last season after helping a youthful Matebele FC retain their Premiership status.
His stock rose significantly, attracting interest from several clubs in Botswana before he opted for a brief move to Zimbabwe as Thabo Senong’s assistant at FC Platinum.
LETSHOLONYANE SET TO BE UNVEILED BY MOCHUDI CENTRE CHIEFS ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON
FARPost can reveal that Letsholonyane’s rising profile made him the standout choice for Mochudi Centre Chiefs, affectionately known as Magosi.
On Wednesday, FC Platinum confirmed ‘Yeye’ had left to take up a head coaching role in Botswana, with the club’s general manager Collen Nikisi wishing him well in his new role.
The club has since replaced him with former Zimbabwe Warriors defender Onismor Bhasera, a former Kaizer Chiefs star himself. For Letsholonyane, the Centre Chiefs job represents a massive step up and his second head coaching role in Botswana.
He holds a CAF A licence and has previously worked with AmaZulu FC‘s DStv Diski Challenge side, as well as an assistant for South Africa’s Under-20 and CHAN teams.
Centre Chiefs are expected to make an official announcement on Thursday afternoon, with Letsholonyane tasked with stepping up their title challenge with the season still in its infancy. It remains to be seen whether he can help the ambitious side achieve their goals in Botswana’s top flight.
