Ghana international goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi has revealed his target after completing a move to Stellenbosch FC from Hearts of Oak.
The 25-year-old was roped in to beef up the Maroons’ depleted goalkeeping department on what the club said is “a long-term deal.” Following the retirement of Lee Langeveldt, Oscarine Masuluke’s departure and Dublin Boon’s move to Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch were left with limited goalkeeping options.
Club captain Sage Stephens had the only recognisable back-up in Nathan Garrow, who was at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with New Zealand side Auckland City FC. But Stellenbosch’s search for a new goalkeeper has earned Agbasi a contract.
“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ghana international Solomon Agbasi on a long-term deal,” Stellenbosch said on Friday, the same day the club also confirmed the arrival of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom, who will reunite with coach Gavin Hunt.
“Agbasi, who recently served as a travelling reserve for Ghana’s national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, has officially signed for Stellenbosch FC after penning a long-term deal.
“The 25-year-old was previously on the books of Hearts of Oak and joins the Maroons’ goalkeeping department, where he will compete alongside Sage Stephens and Nathan Garrow. Agbasi will wear the No. 16 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut for Stellenbosch when the Club takes on Kaizer Chiefs on 17 October 2026.”
AGBASI EYES CAF CONFEDERATION CUP FOOTBALL WITH STELLENBOSCH FC
The Cape Winelands side was in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in the last two seasons, and Agbasi is keen on helping them return to continental football.
“I feel very excited to be part of Stellenbosch FC. Football has always given me a place to call home, and I feel like I am at home. Everyone has welcomed me, and I feel good to be here,” Agbasi said.
“I’m hoping to help the team get back to the top four in the league, and from there compete for the league and in the CAF Confederation Cup or Champions League in the coming seasons.”
