Thapelo Mokobodi’s agent, Nimrod Mbhalati of Nida Sports Agency, has weighed in on what the future holds for his client following his impressive displays since joining Orlando Pirates.
Mokobodi joined the Buccaneers during the just-ended transfer window from Cape Winelands outfit Stellenbosch FC, signing a three-year deal with the Soweto giants.
The 23-year-old central midfielder has hit the ground running at Mayfair, making a quick impact in head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side with his satisfying performances.
So far, Mokobodi has featured in 10 matches across all competitions for the Sea Robbers, chipping in with one goal.
To top it off, he received the Man of the Match award following a stellar performance—contributing two assists—in Pirates’ 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in their Betway Premiership clash at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on September 20.
Mokobodi also earned the Man of the Match accolade on August 29 following Pirates’ 3–0 win over Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 semi-final second leg at Orlando Amstel Arena.
NIMROD MBHALATI ON THAPELO MOKOBODI’S FUTURE
Speaking to FARPost in an exclusive interview, Mbhalati tipped the talented midfielder for higher heights, including national team representation and a potential move abroad.
“You know, I think he has a bright future ahead of him. I believe he can even go as far as playing for Bafana Bafana and, obviously, going overseas,” Mbhalati told FARPost.
“He is a good young man, someone who is very ambitious and works very hard. I think and believe that he has a bright future if he can continue working the way he is.
“For him to succeed, he needs to keep listening to the coaches and everyone involved in his career. He is destined for greatness.”
Pirates will be back in action on 17 October after the current FIFA international break, playing away from home against African Stars of Namibia in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. Kick-off is set for 17:00.
