Joel Masutha is expected to leave his role as Kruger United assistant coach, with ongoing talks to terminate his contract. FARPost has been reliably informed that the two parties are discussing the separation, and talks are expected to conclude soon.
The development comes amid ownership and management changes at the Betway Premiership newcomers. Bongani Wati has stepped down as chairman following the sale of his shares to club president Basil Khoza.
Kruger has since appointed Treasure Mathebula as interim chief executive officer following Wati’s exit. He will oversee day-to-day administration and lead the transition while the club searches for a permanent CEO.
Masutha joined the Mpumalanga-based outfit ahead of the 2026/27 season to work alongside head coach Abram Mongoya, who led Kruger to the Motsepe Foundation Championship title and automatic promotion.
His arrival was part of the club’s efforts to strengthen their technical department ahead of their maiden campaign in South Africa’s top flight.
MASUTHA AND KRUGER UNITED IN TERMINATION TALKS

While nothing has been finalised, FARPost understands that Masutha has made it clear he wants to leave, and the parties are now working through the terms of his departure.
The coach arrived at Kruger after helping The Bees retain their Motsepe Foundation Championship status. He joined them in February to steer them clear of relegation and guided them to a 10th-place finish before departing. Having previously coached clubs including Black Leopards, Baroka FC, Pretoria Callies, Venda FC and Chippa United, Masutha has experience across the Premiership and the lower divisions.
At Kruger, he joined a technical team that also included Simon Marange, the former Orlando Pirates youth coach who worked alongside Mongoya during the club’s promotion-winning campaign.
The top-flight newcomers have managed only one win after seven outings in the Betway Premiership. That run of results, including one draw and five losses, leaves them in 13th place on the league table.
Their next match is away to Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium in East London on Saturday, 17 October, with kick-off at 15:30.
