Simba SC attacker Keletso Makgalwa has opened up on the decisive factors that fuelled his move to the Tanzanian giants from Betway Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United.
Makgalwa completed a move to Simba SC on a two-year contract after parting ways with Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The 29-year-old winger has quickly settled in East Africa, making four appearances under head coach Steve Barker.
As previously reported by FARPost, Simba’s arch-rivals Young Africans were also keen on landing the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, alongside interest from Kaizer Chiefs, but neither move materialised.
Prior to his move to Tanzania, and as FARPost previously reported, Simba’s arch-rivals Young Africans were also keen on securing the former Mamelodi Sundowns player’s signature. Kaizer Chiefs were another side interested in his services, though neither deal materialised.
EX-MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FORWARD REVEALS WHY HE JOINED TANZANIAN GIANTS

Speaking to FARPost during Simba’s recent mini-camp at The Ranch Resort outside Polokwane, Makgalwa revealed that head coach Steve Barker played a pivotal role in convincing him to join the club.
“Coach Steve [Barker] called me. He was the first one to call me around April [2026], and he told me everything,” Makgalwa told FARPost.
“He told me how he wants to use me, how he wants me to play in his team. It was a good offer for me that I couldn’t refuse. So I had to make that decision to go join coach Steve.”
Makgalwa also admits that the decision to move to Tanzania came after careful consideration and consultation.
“It was not an easy one in terms of family-wise. I have a five-month-old kid, and I just got married four months ago. So I had to sit them down and make them understand that at the end of the day it’s work, and I need to take care of my family. So my wife understood, and my family as well, from home.
“It’s a good chance for me to also grow as a footballer while playing outside the country and explore, you know. So it was a good offer for me financially and also the Champions League. I wanted to go back and play in the [CAF] Champions League.”
