Former Mamelodi Sundowns youth player Thulani Zandamela has resurfaced at TS Galaxy despite being announced as a Marumo Gallants player in July.
His presence at Galaxy follows a brief spell at Gallants, who introduced him among their new recruits in July as they strengthened their squad for the campaign.
However, his stay at the North West club was short-lived, and the two parties agreed to terminate the contract by mutual consent. The development made him a free agent and allowed him to join any club of his choice outside the transfer window.
The PSL transfer window closed on 22 September 2026, and indications were that Zandamela was already a free agent at the time.
FARPost has since established that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been training with TS Galaxy for the past three weeks. He has even appeared in some of the club’s training images. Indications suggest that The Rockets, who previously showed interest in him, could sign him.
ZANDAMELA’S ROUTE FROM UJ TO PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL

Zandamela parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side AmaTuks at the end of the 2025/26 season. At the time, he had set his sights on the top flight, with several Betway Premiership clubs interested, including Gallants and Galaxy. The Soweto-born midfielder came through the University of Johannesburg’s football structures, joining their youth setup in 2017.
His breakthrough came during the 2021 Varsity Football tournament, when he helped UJ lift the trophy and attracted interest from Mamelodi Sundowns. He subsequently joined the Brazilians’ ABC Motsepe League side, M-Tigers, alongside fellow UJ player Tumelo Molubi.
Zandamela made his M-Tigers debut against Dondol FC on 23 October 2021, beginning the next stage of his development in the Sundowns setup. He also featured for Sundowns’ DStv Diski Challenge team before joining AmaTuks ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Now at Galaxy, Zandamela will be hoping to establish himself in the top flight after his brief stint at Gallants.
The Mpumalanga outfit strengthened its squad with 14 new arrivals, including Sifiso Ngobeni [Cape Town City FC], Siphesihle Tati and Lennol Mathebula [Gomora United], Katekani Mhlongo [Marumo Gallants], Nhlakanipho Ngwenya [Durban City FC], and Thabelo Tshikweta [Polokwane City FC]. Other signings include Azola Jakalashe, Mpho Maoke, Simthandile Sishi, Anslin Williams, Zuko Gxabusa, Bongani Van Der Heiden, Edson Khumalo, and Camagu Mdevulana.
