Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is expected to arrive in Morocco on Wednesday as his proposed appointment at Wydad Athletic Club moves closer following Paulo Sรฉrgioโs dismissal.
FARPost has been informed that the Tunisian could take charge of Saturdayโs league clash against Union Touarga, provided the remaining arrangements are completed in time.
Sรฉrgioโs departure removes the main obstacle identified in this publicationโs earlier report, which revealed that Wydad and Nabi were in advanced discussions over his contract terms and proposed technical team. The Casablanca giants have now parted ways with the Portuguese coach following a disappointing start to the Botola Pro campaign.
Nabiโs arrival is expected to allow both parties to finalise his appointment as Wydadโs new head coach.
NABI COULD MAKE WYDAD DEBUT AGAINST TOUARGA

Information gathered by FARPost indicates that Nabi could be in the dugout when Wydad face Touarga on Saturday. That possibility remains dependent on the conclusion of his appointment and the necessary arrangements before the fixture.
Wydad sit ninth in the standings with five points from their opening four league matches. One victory, two draws and a defeat have left them needing an early turnaround to avoid losing further ground on the leading teams.
The immediate task for the incoming coach would be to improve results and rebuild confidence following an opening spell that intensified scrutiny of Sรฉrgio and the clubโs hierarchy. The move would mark another return to Moroccan football for Nabi, just months after his departure from Wydadโs fierce Casablanca rivals, Raja Athletic Club.
The former Young Africans mentor previously coached AS FAR Rabat before moving to Chiefs, guiding the army side to a second-place league finish and the Throne Cup final. He subsequently returned to Morocco to lead Raja in his first coaching assignment after leaving Chiefs in October 2025.
Nabi oversaw four wins, two draws and one defeat in Rajaโs final seven league matches last season. The Green Eagles finished third, securing CAF Confederation Cup qualification while narrowly missing out on a Champions League place.
However, his stay ended during preparations for the new campaign following disagreements over player recruitment. A switch to Wydad would give the Nedbank Cup-winning coach another opportunity at one of Moroccoโs biggest clubs, with expectations centred on restoring their domestic competitiveness and returning to the CAF Champions League.
