Two Betway Premiership stars, Jonah Fabisch and Daniel Msendami, look set to be dropped from the Zimbabwe Warriors squad for the upcoming back-to-back 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea.
The 26-year-old Msendami, on loan at Marumo Gallants from Orlando Pirates, has endured a frustrating 2026/27 season after his registration at Gallants could not be completed. He has not played a match this Betway Premiership season.
On the otherhand, 25-year-old Fabisch, who joined Golden Arrows from German fourth-tier side FC Erzgebirge Aue, is yet to feature for Abafana Bes’thende after picking up an injury in pre-season.
His inclusion in the Warriors squad came as a surprise due to how his time in South Africa has been subdued by injury. Both, Msendami and Fabisch were drafted into coach Ramon Catala’s squad for the back-to-back ties against Equatorial Guinea, but they now look set to be cut.

GOLDEN ARROWS COACH PAINTS A GRIM PICTURE ON JONAH FABISCH
Fabisch’s fate depends on a green light from Golden Arrows over his injury, while Msendami could be dropped following the outcry over his lack of minutes in the Betway Premiership.
Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi painted a picture of Fabisch’s match fitness as he continues his recovery. He made these remarks after their Carling Knockout Cup tie against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
“Our medical team are going to write a medical report to ZIFA. I have seen him train but the extent of his injury is not clear. The medics discussed with me and told me about his condition, but I don’t know how long his rehabilitation will take,” Ncikazi said.
Furthermore, Leeroy Mavunga, Ishmael Wadi and Walter Musona of Dynamos FC, Caps United and Scottland FC respectively, who were drafted into the preliminary squad, are waiting on the wings to take Msendami’s slot. Furthermore, Highlanders FC talisman Mongameli Tshuma is primed to replaced Fabisch.
Zimbabwe face Equatorial Guinea on 13 and 16 November respectively. They are expected to begin camp on Monday, 9 November. In addition, the first match will be played at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé, Cameroon, while Zimbabwe will host the second leg at the National Sports Stadium.
