Lamontville Golden Arrows co-coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi has hinted at quitting his job after his side suffered a home defeat to Royal AM in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

It was a second league loss on the trot for Abafana Besโ€™thende and their 10th of the season.

Vilakazi, whoโ€™s in charge of the KZN side along with Mabhuti Khenyeza in the dugout, seems to be surrendering.

He says they canโ€™t find ways to deal with their defensive woes.

GOLDEN ARROWS COACH VILAKAZI REACTS TO ROYAL AM DEFEAT

โ€œItโ€™s a disappointing factor and a worrying factor in terms of making sure that we donโ€™t lose games,โ€ he told the media.

โ€œBut we always play well but you canโ€™t say we play when weโ€™re losing games. We dominate games but weโ€™re losing games. Weโ€™ve been working on one aspect almost every day which is our defensive structure.

โ€œBut we seem to concede goals, others are too easy. Maybe the first goal, I can understand itโ€™s top class but the second one, the defender Sibonelo should have pressed the player to avoid the cross.

โ€œAfter that, failing to [prevent] it, then you must deal with the cross. I think the โ€˜keeper should have done better as well. But above all, our team needs serious attention in terms of making sure that we donโ€™t concede.

โ€œIf we can have a strong foundation of not conceding, we stand a chance. We always go, play teams, and find it difficult to score. But we easily concede.

Vilakazi went on to raise concerns about being unable to keep the maximum points when playing at home.

โ€œIโ€™m more worried that if we lose games at home, itโ€™ll be difficult when weโ€™re playing away,โ€ he continued.

โ€œI know that next one will be a cup game, maybe itโ€™ll give us a chance to give a chance to other players and see options we have to get solutions.โ€

Vilakazi expressly stated that if things don’t get better, he’ll volunteer to step down because he puts the team first before himself.

โ€˜MAYBE FIND SOMEONE ELSEโ€™

โ€œEveryone is aware of our problems, what is needed now is that we find solutions. It is our responsibility as coaches to come up with solutions,” he added.

โ€œWe hope for the better but if things donโ€™t go well, weโ€™ll also raise our hands in saying to the boss, โ€˜maybe find someone else to help and rescue the situationโ€™.

โ€œWe are Arrows, weโ€™re not selfish and we think for the club before anything else.โ€
