Coach Arthur Zwane was asked about Kaizer Chiefs’ transfers ahead of the 2022/23 season, and in his reaction, he laid out their strategy.
Amakhosi have completed three signings so far as they continue their rebuild ahead of the next season.
Mduduzi Mdantsane will join them from Cape Town City at the start of the next season. TS Galaxy captain Given Msimango is also set to move.
KAIZER CHIEFS TRANSFERS FOR NEXT SEASON
The Soweto giants have already announced the capture of Botswana captain Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. He is winding up his time at SuperSport United and will leave them at the end of the season.
Interestingly, Chiefs are signing leaders with Mdantsane, a former captain of Baroka FC, a big figure at City.
Ditlhokwe, who started captaining Botswana at 21, has worn the armband at Matsatsantsa before.
Zwane revealed that they had identified a list of players for next season, which management is working on bringing.
“As a club, there are players that were identified that we want to bring on board. The team is still dealing with that just to make sure we get all the players that have been identified by the technical team,” Zwane said.
He hinted that he was looking to bring on a few more players from the development side.
The academy trio of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba have featured for the senior team this season.
Shabalala has been the standout of the trio, featuring 11 times and scoring two goals. He also added an assist to his tally so far.
“The players who are coming from the development, those who have been doing well in the first team who’ve been part of the first team, the opportunity is there for them. It’s all up to them.

“They will be given the opportunity if they grab it with both hands. It’s good for the club. We’re more than willing to do that. It’s part of our job. And yeah, what is key is to get the rhythm and find the right balance,” said Zwane.
With seven games left before the curtain comes down on the current season, Chiefs are in third place.
They have won 11, drawn four and lost eight, amassing 37 points, 22 behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs have scored 27 goals in 23 games, conceding 26. Moreover, they are also in the last eight of the Nedbank Cup.
Zwane believes recurring injuries have affected their progress this season.
“This is one season – my first season – and other players, it’s their first season. It was never going to be easy,” admitted the Amakhosi mentor.
