Issa Sarr and Moeketsi Sekola’s sudden absence from PSL club explained

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) coach Lucky Nelukau has played down suggestions that two of their experienced players, Issa Sarr and Moeketsi Sekola, are on their way out at the club.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Issa Sarr and well-traveled striker Moeketsi Sekola have not been part of the team since the resumption of the season following the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup break

There are reports that the pair are part of the players, who have decided to stop training after some financial disputes between the players and the club.

The financial struggles have troubled the Motsepe Foundation Championship club in recent times with reports of nonpayment of players.

UPDATE ON ISSA SARR AND MOEKETSI SEKOLA

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat by University of Pretoria on Tuesday, Nelukau said the pair are not yet fit to return to action and there is nothing sinister about their absence.

“Issa Sarr and Sekola are still struggling with fitness, unlike other players,” said Nelukau.

“So I am still working on them to get them back in the team.”

ON THE REPORTED IMMINENT MOVE TO FREE STATE

Nelukau has also responded to questions regarding the reported imminent move that could see the club relocating to Mangaung, Free State in the immediate future.

“As far as I know we are going to play all our remaining home games at Thohoyandou. I don’t know anything about going somewhere but all our games as far as I know we are still going to play here.”

The coach also made it known that his troops are gunning for promotion to the DStv Premiership.

TTM are currently 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 16 points from 14 matches.

Their next five encounters include JDR Stars away. A Vhembe Derby against Venda Football Academy, Platinum City Rovers and high flying Casric Stars at home as well as an away fixture against Cape Town Spurs.

“I am not playing to avoid relegation, I am playing to gain promotion. So if it’s not automatic then it must be through the playoffs,” he said.
