JOHANNESBURG — Golden Arrows FC striker Junior Dion is yet to join the team’s pre-season training camp, with the Ivorian-Chadian attacker understood to be pushing for a lucrative move to the United Arab Emirates, FARPost has established.

After finishing last season as the Betway Premiership top goal-scorer, Dion set himself up for an overseas transfer. The 27-year-old scored 14 league goals last term to establish himself as one of the PSL top performers.

It was his maiden season with Abafana Bes’thende after joining them from Marumo Gallants. To cap a memorable season, he also launched his international career with Chad.

Born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, the striker holds dual citizenship and was called up by Chad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic. That also spruced up his profile before he ended the season as the Betway Premiership’s top marksman.

FARPost understands that Dion is currently in Durban but has yet to join his teammates, who regrouped for pre-season training on June 24. However, indications are suggesting that he could join Arrows players for training on Thursday.

He has one year left on his Arrows contract after joining them before the start of last season. Moving to Abafana Bes’thende was a return to Durban, where he previously spent time with AmaZulu FC. He has also turned out for Marumo Gallants in the PSL.

Arrows have a new coach, Pitso Dladla, who will be trying to build on the sixth position on the PSL table attained by his predecessor, Manqoba Mngqithi last term. But he now faces the possibility of losing Dion in his bid to build a competitive squad for the 2026/27 season.

The Chad international is said to be a wanted man by UAE side Hatta Club, who were promoted to the Pro League from the Division One at the end of last season.
