Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town City FC have cut ties with experienced Miguel Timm following the expiry of his contract.
The club confirmed the departure of the former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United midfielder on Tuesday, 14 July.
Timm joined the Cape club on January 5, 2026, after his contract termination from the Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune.
The veteran midfielder adds to the list of players who have already left the Cape club ahead of the new season. The Citizens have already let go of former Bafana international Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Dzenan Zajmovic, Sifiso Ngobeni, and Siphamandla Dondolo.
On the other hand, the club’s star attacker, Jaedin Rhodes, completed a European move, joining Austrian Bundesliga outfit SV Ried.

In an official statement, Cape Town City bid farewell to Timm, thanking him for his services at the club last season and wishing him well in his future endeavours.
“Cape Town City bids farewell to Miguel Timm following the expiry of his contract,” reads the club’s statement. “Time and again, Miguel stepped up when we needed him most, giving everything for the badge and the Club.
“You’ll always be part of the City family, Miguel, and we wish you nothing but the best for the next chapter.”
Meanwhile, the squad restructuring follows a disappointing 2025/26 campaign for Cape Town City, who missed out on a return to the Betway Premiership.
The Citizens finished as runners-up in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. They were beaten to the automatic promotion spot by Kruger United, who won the second-tier league title.
In addition, Cape Town City were handed a second chance to gain promotion to the top flight via the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs. However, they finished at the bottom of the three-team mini-log, failing to gain promotion. Milford FC earned the promotion spot instead, while the third team in the playoffs, Magesi FC, dropped from the Betway Premiership to the NFD.
