Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing, Faiz Abrahams, has opened up on the specific tactical instructions head coach Fernando da Cruz gave him before he made his Amakhosi debut this week.
Abrahams made his first appearance for Amakhosi on Wednesday during their 2-2 Betway Premiership draw against Richards Bay FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
The 21-year-old winger came on as a second-half substitute in the 68th minute, taking the place of Mfundo Vilakazi.
The attacker joined the Glamour Boys on a season-long loan deal from Stellenbosch FC, with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign. Chiefs officially confirmed his arrival from the Cape Winelands outfit on Thursday, 6 August.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Abrahams opened up about his first experience in Amakhosi colours and shared the brief directive from the French mentor before stepping onto the pitch.
“The coach told me to go out there and create chances for us to get back into the game,” Abrahams revealed. “I think I made a few opportunities that we might have scored from, so I am quite happy with how I did.
“It was my first time travelling with Kaizer Chiefs. It felt good to be included [in the matchday squad], and I appreciate the coach’s belief in me. I have worked hard since I arrived, and I am grateful for the support I have received and honoured to be playing for this great club.”
Reflecting on the match dynamics in KwaMashu, Abrahams pointed out that difficult weather conditions affected the flow of the game, though he remains confident the team will rectify their errors.

“We played well enough to win the game, but we had a couple of misfortunes which we will definitely work on cutting out going forward,” he added.
“The conditions made things a bit difficult. It was windy as well, which made controlling the slippery ball difficult, but overall, I think the guys coped well in the circumstances.”
The player went on to highlight his determination to maintain high standards and secure consistent game time in Naturena.
“I’m just going to keep working as hard as I can in order to maintain a high standard week in, week out. Consistency is the most important thing. You have to be at your best every time you set foot on the field,” Abrahams concluded.
