ProSport International agent Mike Makaab has opened up about Kobamelo Kodisang’s next move after the attacker’s exit from reigning African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns reached an agreement with Kodisang for a mutual termination of the contract, allowing the player to walk away as a free agent. Kodisang leaves Masandawana after two seasons with the club, having joined in July 2024 from Portuguese top-division side Moreirense FC.
After arriving at Sundowns, Kodisang struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, having battled with injuries and stiff competition among other things.
The talented winger featured in 13 matches across all competitions for Downs in his first season, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
At the start of the previous season, the highly-rated winger was sent out on loan to AVS Futebol SAD in Portugal. However, the attacker returned to South Africa halfway through his loan spell overseas.
Upon his return to South Africa, Kodisang signed a loan deal with Stellenbosch FC for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. However, the former Bidvest Wits star also battled to break into the Stellies starting line-up under his former coach at the Students, Gavin Hunt.
After his loan stint with the Winelands side ended, Kodisang returned to Sundowns, although he trained away from the rest of the squad.
MAKAAB CONFIRMS KODISANG EXIT AT SUNDOWNS
Before the official closure of the transfer window earlier this week, the African champions terminated Kodisang’s contract by mutual consent.
With questions mounting about Kodisang’s next move, his agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed the player’s departure and said the decision on his next chapter will be made in the next few weeks.
“Yes, Kobamelo Kodisang is free to join any club of his choice. He has left Sundowns amicably,” Makaab told FARPost.
“With the next move, we will wait a bit until the dust settles to make a decision because he got his clearance before the transfer window closed. So he can join a new club anytime.”
